Anthurium: The Unique Heart-Shaped Flower

Anthurium Flowers Anthurium Flowers

Anthuriums are long-lasting tropical flowers that will bloom year-round with proper conditions such as the temperature, potting mix, watering, light and fertilizer. They are known for the large beautiful foliage and the surface of the flower is semi-glossy. The stems may grow 15 to 20 inches long depending on the spathe. The spathe is the colored part of flower which comes in red, green, bi-color, shades of pink, peach and white with a long tail. All parts of the plant are poisonous.

They can be used in exotic tropical flower arrangements by itself or with Orchids, Proteas, Bird of Paradise and Ginger.

Autumn Flower Arrangement Pots

Fall Scarecrow and Gourd Floral Arrangements Fall Scarecrow and Gourd Floral Arrangements

Fall is my favorite time of year (from a photographer's perspective) and I think my mom, Patty likes fall colors as well. These are two new flower pots she made in time for the upcoming holiday season. She sold most of the arrangements on her website within a day or two of arranging them, but since these are not live flowers, these cute little pots can be used for annual decorations for your home or office.

Website Update Status

My mom, Patty is currently working on writing the "About" page and has completed several new arrangements since the last update. I was traveling so I haven't had a chance to photograph her latest work yet but I anticipate that I will do so this week. I will get those up on the website as soon as the website has been written.

Thanks.

An Introduction

Hi, I'm Richard. ColorMakesFlowers.com is my mom's business website but I am currently the webmaster for the site. My main discipline is rights-managed travel and nature stock photography but I have several years worth of web design experience so that is why I'm designing her site. Since the website hasn't officially launched yet, this blog will serve as an update center for progress on the Color Makes Flowers website.

Two days ago, I uploaded the "teaser" page which is currently online. We are still deciding upon which product categories will offered and I am designing the product template pages. I also need to photograph several of my mom's gift baskets and arrangements. Once the website is officially launched, she will be writing the content for this blog as well as photographing the arrangements that I am not available to photograph.

I hope you will enjoy my mom's work. I know I do despite having no interest in flower arranging. :-)
